Psychiatric Evaluation & Medication Management
Compassionate, collaborative psychiatric care for adults 18+
What is a psychiatric evaluation?
I provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management for adults who are seeking clarity, support, and thoughtful guidance around their mental health. My approach integrates evidence-based medicine with a holistic understanding of the mind, body, and nervous system so care feels personalized—not “one size fits all.”
A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive appointment where we look at the full picture of what you’re experiencing—not just symptoms in isolation.
During this visit, we will:
-
discuss your current concerns and goals
-
review your mental health and medical history
-
talk about past treatments and what has or hasn’t helped
-
review current medications and supplements
-
consider contributing factors such as sleep, stress, trauma, hormones, lifestyle, and nervous-system health
Together, we create a treatment plan that aligns with your values and comfort level. Medication may be recommended, but it is never the only option and is always your choice.
What is medication management?
Medication management involves ongoing appointments to ensure your treatment plan remains safe, effective, and aligned with your goals.
Follow-up visits typically include:
-
how you’re feeling emotionally and physically
-
benefits and side effects of medication
-
dosage adjustments when needed
-
simplifying or tapering medications when appropriate
-
education so you understand your options
-
time for questions and shared decision-making
-
brief therapeutic support
My prescribing philosophy emphasizes thoughtful, conservative use of medication and the lowest effective dose whenever possible.
I also support clients who wish to reduce or discontinue medication safely when appropriate.
My approach to care
My care intentionally blends:
-
evidence-based psychiatric medicine
-
nervous-system informed care
-
mindset and behavioral strategies
-
holistic consideration of lifestyle, nutrition, stress, and energy
I believe symptoms are messages—not personal failures and often reflect the nervous system doing its best to cope. Our work focuses on understanding root contributors such as:
-
anxiety
-
depression
-
ADHD
-
trauma-related symptoms
-
sleep problems
-
burnout and chronic stress
Medication management appointments often include brief therapeutic support. This may look like:
-
checking in about stressors and triggers
-
teaching coping and nervous-system regulation skills
-
supporting mindset shifts
-
helping integrate insights from therapy or ketamine sessions
These therapeutic elements are included because medication works best when combined with emotional and behavioral support.
However, it’s important to note:
I do not provide stand-alone individual psychotherapy.
The brief therapy included in medication management visits is adjunctive and does not replace ongoing counseling with a therapist.
I strongly encourage clients to continue (or begin) psychotherapy, as the combination of therapy + medication management is often the most effective approach.
